All Mali national football teams have been suspended by FIFA for what the football governing body termed government interference.

FIFA is reacting to Sports Minister Housseini Amion Guindo’s dissolution of an elected board of the Mali FA.

FIFA had given a grace period for the government official to rescind his decision, but the period elapsed and the installed interim board still remained.

The World’s governing body said in a statement that it decided to act after Mali’s sports minister ‘decided to dissolve the executive committee’ of the national federation.

Mali has a World Cup qualifier game against Morocco set to take place on August 28th but the schedule won’t be affected immediately.

FIFA said the suspension will be lifted once the ministerial decisions are nullified and the executive committee of FEMAFOOT and its president, Boubacar Baba Diarra, is reinstated.
